"One of the truly remarkable lessons I have learned about faith-based organizations is that they cannot exist without a volunteer army. With no desire for a regular paycheck, volunteers from all age groups and from all walks of life work long hours, perform repetitious tasks, and sometimes use skills they never knew they possessed!

It is probably impossible to calculate the kind of impact the work can have in the life of a volunteer or the kind of impact the volunteer can have in the overall success of a project. Obviously, volunteers have much to give - time, talent, passion, ideas, even money! I have never volunteered anywhere that I didn't want to give as well as receive. In fact, I believe that may be the purest definition of the word volunteer!"

"When we serve as a volunteer, we often wonder whether or not our little part of the big picture is meaningful. First, what does it take to be an effective volunteer?

The answer is found in our commitment to the Lord. Is our commitment to the Lord half-hearted or 100% with passion? We pray it is a 100% commitment with passion to always please Him and represent Him in the best possible light.

Second, the ripple effects of our volunteering is seen in the following illustration. I direct a full time ministry reaching Eastern cultures and religions in America. When I was first involved with Ethnic America Network it was in the Los Angeles area with the first Ethnic Workers Summit,in 2001. I volunteered to be what is now known as the Local Prayer Coordinator. This required of me to start a list of people who would pray preceding, during, and following the Summit. I treated this ministry no differently than how AI treat my main ministry which brought me to EAN in the first place. The Lord guided me to faithful intercessor friends. Before we knew it we had a band faithful steady praying people support that first Summit.

Following the Summit, I found myself planning prayer for the following Summit as well. Now, to day I have been serving continuously for over seven years as the National Prayer Coordinator. We have more than 160 intercessors and groups around the nation who prayer regularly for EAN. And, we have seen so many answers to prayer. What a great blessing this has been to see it grow and expand where so many lives are touched through prayer and where so many people are agreeing in prayer for the same issues. The ripples of this effort now spread across the USA and Canada.

It all started when I volunteered for a small local need for prayer".
