SHIFT: 2nd (noon to midnight)SUMMARY:
This position is part of a team that is responsible for supporting routine analysis efforts using multiple characterization techniques such as x-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence (PL), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Auger, and focused ion beam milling (FIB). The successful candidate will be a hard-working, well organized, hands-on, problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical challenges. The person should thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented atmosphere while also capable and willing to work with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians. This position is open to entry-level applicants.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work on a team of scientists, engineers and technicians to characterize high brightness LED products.
Perform routine measurements using various characterization methods and tools (XRD, SEM, PL, FIB, Auger).
Perform basic troubleshooting of data acquisition errors and equipment malfunctions. Escalate as needed.
Monitor the performance of tools used for routine maintenance through tracking of standards.
Provide quality analysis and service to all ‘customers’ using the facility.
Must be flexible in scheduling and be willing to work overtime. Shifts are subject to change.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
AA in technical field or equivalent experience required.
1-2 years experience in semiconductor, materials, or chemical industry in manufacturing or R&D capacity is desired. Work experience is desired but not mandatory, position is open to people without work experience who meet the AA technical degree requirement.
Must have good communication skills.
Must work diligently and have good attention to detail.
Experience using Word and Excel is not mandatory, but is sought. Must have used computers in a professional or educational setting.
Must have good dexterity for manipulating small objects for long periods of time.
Must be able to spend extended time in a laboratory setting (latex gloves, smock, and booties).
Must be able to multitask and move swiftly to keep up with fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with x-ray diffraction, laser systems, or electron microscopy is highly preferred.
Experience in a manufacturing facility or with a test group on a manufacturing line is preferred.
