Research Scientist

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the development, improvement and integration of new epitaxial growth processes for III-N LED products. The successful candidate will be a resourceful hands-on problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical problems while managing one of more development efforts. The person should thrive in a high pressure, deadline-oriented atmosphere.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to develop and transfer into production new epitaxial growth processes for III-N LED products.
  • Lead process improvement projects and coordinate process transfers to production teams. 24x7 MOCVD reactor and process ownership.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field is required. 0-5 years experience in semiconductor industry in manufacturing or R&D capacity required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Self-starter, able to manage multiple projects with minimal guidance.
  • Able to adjust to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Willing/able to learn and perform as necessary all tasks related to epitaxial growth (e.g. epitaxial layer characterization, equipment maintenance, experiment design and scheduling).
  • Able to summarize data and communicate findings quickly to support 24x7 R&D operation process.
  • Thrives in a high-pressure deadline-oriented atmosphere
  • Must have a "whatever it takes" attitude.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Data analysis skills and experience with Access and JMP.
  • Prior hands-on experience with characterization techniques such as photoluminescence, capacitance-voltage, Hall, double crystal x-ray diffraction, SEM, EDS, and/or SIMS.
  • Relevant work experience such as III-N epitaxial layer growth or III-V LED experience is desired but not mandatory.
