We currently have an opening for a Wafer Fab Metals Engineering Group Lead within our LED Chips group. This position will be stationed at our headquarters in Raleigh/Durham, NC.
Summary:
In this position you have the opportunity to be the metals group leader for Cree’s LED Fab engineering team working as a key leader within the LED engineering organization by leading a group of metals process engineers and technicians in their technical and operational activities. Under your leadership the team will be responsible for process sustaining, tool and process qualification, as well as process and yield improvement.
You will be a key leader managing a team of engineers and technicians focused on sustaining and improving the processes for LED device fabrication while sustaining and improving processes for LED device fabrication. You will practice interface with equipment engineering, management and manufacturing to improve cycle time, tool availability, process/product yield, and drive cost reductions. In this role you will partner with product engineering and development engineering to ensure effective new product and process introductions as well as consistent device performance and quality. In this lead role you will create and maintain operation specifications for production processes and equipment. In this job you will have the opportunity to exercise your leadership ability by driving the training and development of the engineers and technicians to create a solid and value-add contributing technical resources team. Requirements:

BS in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Equivalent.

7+ yrs Wafer Fab Experience.

Significant experience and expertise with sputtered and/or evaporated metal depostion.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule in support of 24x7 manufacturing.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability and desire to assume a technical leadership role within the organization

Candidate must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
Preferences:

MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Equivalent.

10+ yrs Wafer Fab Engineering Experience, ideally with compound semiconductors.

3+ yrs as an engineering group leader or section head.

In-depth technical understanding of semiconductor processes and equipment

Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to identify manufacturing improvements, manage change, and implement solutions.

Working knowledge of applied statistics (SPC/DOE)
