SUMMARY:

The engineer chosen for this position will be a key member of Cree’s LED Equipment Development Team. This team is responsible for the development, purchasing, installation, and support of the LED manufacturing equipment for a 24X7 operation.  This individual will interact directly with other Cree teams including the following: R&D and manufacturing process engineering, mechanical design and assembly, facilities, and purchasing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Member of a design team responsible for the development, design, and fabrication of ‘turn key’ equipment upgrades and system startups.
• Provide and execute equipment design and redesign ideas to improve tool performance. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, determine corrective actions, and implement these actions.
• Provide general engineering support for a variety of off-the-shelf and custom engineering projects
• Focus on the design, assembly, and test of custom circuit solutions for simple and complex problems
• Mentor technical staff.  Provide training to other Cree personnel where appropriate to improve over-all capabilities and system knowledge.
• Provide top level support for extended or chronic tool down issues
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Able to make individual contributions while staying focused on the goals of the team.
• Provide flexibility for 24X7 technical support for critical ongoing projects, installations, and repairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in a technical field
• Strong background in equipment engineering with expertise in and electronics and electrical systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess strong analytical skills
• Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to identify equipment improvements, manage change and implement solutions.
• Candidate must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in equipment engineering
