SUMMARY:

The engineer chosen for this position will be a key member of Cree’s LED Equipment Development Team. This team is responsible for the development, purchasing, installation, and support of the LED manufacturing equipment for a 24X7 operation.  This individual will interact directly with other Cree teams including the following: R&D and manufacturing process engineering, mechanical design and assembly, facilities, and purchasing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Engineer will be responsible for identifying and/or developing, purchasing, installation, and hand-off of new process equipment according to established procedures.
• You will be required to work with engineering and sustaining teams to create and maintain PM and maintenance procedures, training materials, technician qualification procedures for manufacturing equipment
• Interface with Process Engineering, Manufacturing and Management to improve tool availability, wafer throughput, process/product yield, and drive scrap and maintenance cost reductions
• Mentor technical maintenance staff on advanced troubleshooting techniques
• Provide top level support of extended or chronic tool down issues
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in a technical field
• Strong background in equipment engineering with expertise in one or more of the following: vacuum systems, robotics, and control systems.
• Willing and able to work a flexible schedule as needed to support critical tool issues in a 24X7 manufacturing environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Working knowledge of applied statistics (SPC/DOE)
• In depth understanding of semiconductor equipment and processes
• Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to identify equipment improvements, manage change and implement solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• US Citizen or Green Card holder
• Have a ’whatever it takes’ attitude.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5 years of Wafer Fab Equipment Engineering experience
• Experience with design, modification, and assembly of complicated machinery – wafer processing equipment.
