SUMMARY:

This position is part of a R&D team that is responsible for the development and improvement of MOCVD epitaxial growth for III-Nitride LED products. The successful candidate will be a resourceful, hands-on, problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical challenges. The person should thrive in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented atmosphere and be capable and willing to work in a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians. This position is open to entry-level applicants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support a team of scientists and engineers through ownership of process and equipment aspects of MOCVD growth
  • Provide contributions to process improvement through scheduling of runs, tracking process parameters, and troubleshooting process and equipment problems
  • Analysis of parametric data and preparation of summaries (both written and verbal) for distribution internally to the R&D team and also for broader distribution to production teams
  • Ownership of projects related to process development; these projects may involve working directly with production manufacturing teams
  • Be the technical lead for the R&D team during 2nd shift
  • Support 24x7 R&D operations, including off-shift response as necessary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related technical field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to make individual contributions while staying focused on the goals of the group.
  • Able and willing to support 24X7 projects.
  • Able to adjust to changing priorities and schedules to keep development projects on-track.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with strong personal work ethic; must have a "whatever it takes" attitude.
  • Green Card or US Permanent Residency

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with semiconductor vacuum technology, especially MOCVD growth
  • Experience with databases and data analysis tools (SQL, Access, JMP, Excel, etc.)
  • Previous work in a cleanroom environment
  • Compound semiconductor experience, particularly optoelectronic materials
