SUMMARY:
Cree is looking for a self-motivated, hands-on process engineer to own projects related to new process and product development. The successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical issues through the implementation of practical solutions to complicated problems. This position within our LED Chips Group will be stationed at our headquarters facility in Raleigh/Durham, NC.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Take ownership of, and drive to completion, projects related to new product and process development. Projects may involve all aspects of product or process design, development, and sustaining.

Conduct optical and electrical testing of optoelectronic devices.

Work with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to develop next generation LED chip technologies and coordinate transfers of these products to production

Analyze, summarize, and present data in a clear concise manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physical Science or other semiconductor related discipline.

Willing to work diligently with minimal guidance and to develop habits in-line with the Cree culture (be a team player, dedicated, willing to work outside the scope of normal job duties and past experience, and have ‘whatever-it-takes’ attitude).

Ablility to manage /complete multiple projects simultaneously and successfully.

Strong attention to detail.

Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including technical writing for summarizing data and finding, writing process and equipment specifications and work instructions.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Flexible work schedule to support 24 x 7 development and manufacturing. Position will be 2nd shift, either Sun. – Thur. or Tues. - Sat.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Optoelectronic device experience a very strong plus, but recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
