SEPTA has immediate openings for Substation Maintainers in their Subway/Light Rail Power Department. Substation Maintainers operate, maintain, repair and install high voltage AC and DC electrical systems and equipment in traction power substations, and at various locations throughout the Subway/Light Rail Power System.

Successful applicants will enter a comprehensive training program and upon successful completion be eligible for promotion to the position of traction Power Substation Maintainer.

Starting salary is $29.17/hour

Applicants must be high school graduate(or equivalent) with a minimum of two years technical school training for an electrical or electronics craft and possess a valid Class C drivers license. Relevant experience can be considered in lieu of technical school training.

Work experience maintaining and/or repairing high voltage AC and DC electrical systems desired.

Substation Maintainers are expected to have their own tools and are required to work nights and weekends.

Consistent with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) respiratory protection standard, this position requires the use of a tight fitting respirator. SEPTA employees required to wear a tight fitting respirator must be clean-shaven and fit-tested.

Selected candidates will be scheduled to take the written qualifying test. Evening test dates will be available.
