We are currently seeking experienced mechanics for current and future openings. These position are not entry level and require proven work experience as an automotive mechanic with the ability to repair gas and diesel engines and transmissions.
Will be responsible for the diagnosis of complex mechanical, electrical and pneumatic troubles on our vehicles along with disassembly, repair, replacement, reassembly and adjustment of diesel or gasoline engines, clutches, transmissions, refrigeration units, and other automotive equipment.

Requires experience in the above areas as well as on related systems: hydraulic, emission control, self-lubricating, and air and hydraulic brakes.

Experience working on busses and/or diesel engines is a plus but not required. Mechanics with dealership experience desired.

Qualified candidates must also possess at least one year of related experience, a High School diploma or GED, and valid driver's license. SEPTA mechanics will be required to obtain CDL license but this is not required at time of application.

Selected candidates must pass written qualifications test. Evening test dates will be available.

Pay rate for 1st Class Mechanics in our City Transit Division begins at $28.31 per hour, with an increase to $31.77 per hour after 12 months. Wage rates in our Suburban Divisions are lower. 2nd Class Mechanics start at $18.25 per hour with progressive increases each year. The goal for 2nd Class mechanics is to advance to 1st class.
