SEPTA is seeking a Project Management Specialist-Signage for our Communication Department! This position will be based at our Headquarters in Center City, Philadelphia.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design or Fine Arts (with a Graphic Design minor), Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or a related field and four (4) years related experience which includes designing and installing signage/maps.

The salary range for this position is $60, 000-$75,000.


OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

Coordinate Authority initiatives to advance a comprehensive signage and map program at customer stations/facilities and employee work locations. Ensure all signage/maps are current, in good condition, and properly present the SEPTA brand – logos, line naming conventions. Service as liaison between the Communications Department staffs – Communications, Graphics, and Printing Services – the departments throughout the organization including but not limited to EM&C, Operations, System Safety, and Service Planning in the development, production, and installation of signage and map projects. Support Printing Services and Graphics in the development of files for production of small and large scale signage packages.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conducts regular field inspections throughout the SEPTA system to evaluate condition of sign and determine when replacement or enhancement of existing signage/maps are required.

2. Documents conditions (photographs) and take field measurements to facilitate development of production files for new signs/maps.

3. Supports major initiative requiring signs including all Capital funded improvement work at stations and facilities, employee facility improvements, and system wide Transit Bus/Trolley Stop program, among others following standards outlines in the Authority’s graphics standards and ADA Sign guidelines.

4. Serves as Communications Department liaison to work with sign requestors, Communications and Operations/EM&C staffs to develop, schedule, and complete projects. Work with internal clients to coordinate and manage individual sign requests.

5. Supports Graphics and Printing Services by developing scope or work, preparing graphic files, coordinating Shop production schedules and final installation.

6. Reviews sign plans, drawings and specifications, contractor submissions, and map updates for Capital funded improvement projects.

7. Coordinates pickup and delivery of completed sign packages/maps with the installation teams.

8. Conducts punch list inspections with appropriate parties after installation to ensure signs are correctly placed and the package is complete.

9. Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or Fine Arts (with a Graphic Design minor), Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or a related field and four (4) years related experience which includes designing and installing signage/maps required.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered (one (1) year of post-high school education equates to two (2) years of experience) in lieu of the above requirements.

• Demonstrated experience using graphics programs to develop creative for signage packages, maps, and other visual presentation materials preferred.

• Demonstrated experience managing signage programs – small and large scale – including field survey and documentation, file production, project scope/schedule development, and installation/punch list completion preferred.

• Demonstrated experience reading design documents, signage plans, and schematics required.

• Knowledge of printing process and preparation of files for signs and maps required.

• Advanced working knowledge of Macintosh based computer systems required.

• Demonstrated technology skills using Adobe Creative Suite required including but not limited to: InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

• Candidate must demonstrate project management skills and ability to work with clients and pay close attention to detail required.

• Must possess good writing, speaking, presentation, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle more than one project at a time required.

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
